Hi, we’re Shanandoah and Atalaya! We’re (likely) sisters who have spent our whole lives together and we’d like to be adopted together. We’ve both had litters of kittens outside and now our kittens are adopted. We are getting used to inside life and are learning lots every day about how to have fun times with humans. We get along really well, but our personalities couldn’t be more different, so if you’re looking for one adventurous, exploring cat and one sit-and-cuddle cat, we’ll be a great pair for you. We both have lots of perch-up-high desires! We like to get a bird’s eye view of things, so if you’ve ever dreamed of a ceiling height catrun or tall cat perch in your house or have high shelves for us to make a little bed, that would be our favorite. We're great at using only designated scratching posts -- we'd like a really tall one, please! Foster Notes: We feel it would stress Shenandoah & Atalaya to be separated. They get along well, look out for each other and like spending time together. They call for each other when they're not in the same room. Shenandoah is chatty and will call out a little meow to see who’s home or to express curiosity or surprise. She’s the first one to explore a new surrounding and less likely to sit still. She loves to climb up high and is a great jumper! You will want to provide her a cat-approved up-high place for her to be or she may pick one herself. Atalaya is much slower to explore a new space, and when she does, she likes to pick a favorite spot and sit there for a few hours at a time. She’s the quicker of the two to greet you with her loud purr if you come to win her trust, and will enjoy time with you while you pet her as long as you like. Once she gets to know you, she may also show you her special biscuit recipe, and make biscuits while you pet her. She also likes up-high perches that are out of the way where she can enjoy the peace and calm, and let the world go by around her, but would just as well prefer a couch.

About Me:

Both cats are still early on in the learning curve of being at peace around humans, though their comfort has grown by leaps and bounds in just a few weeks. This means their relationship will blossom with you over time. They both do have a desire for connection, and while they can be anywhere in the house, we often find them in the same room as us, just out of reach. Both cats can be handled for very brief periods of time, for example to put in a carrier, but do not currently tolerate being picked up or held at this point. This may change over time and treats encourage them to come close, but it’s possible they may never be lap cats. The plus side of this is that they’re confident and independent cats that can amuse themselves easily.

Notes:

The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
